Mr. Sidi Moukhtar Al-Kenti, the Director of the Water Basin Agency for Sakia El Hamra and Wadi Al-Dhahab, revealed the achievements of the agency during the year 2022. He provided this information during the Administrative Council meeting for the years 2022 and 2023, chaired by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Equipment and Water. Mr. Al-Kenti emphasized that these projects aim to strengthen the supply of drinking water to the communities within the agency’s jurisdiction.
In the same context, the agency director confirmed, in the presence of parliamentary representatives, representatives from the region of Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab, regional council members, and national and local media, that regarding water resource exploration, the agency successfully concluded three contracts for exploratory drilling within its jurisdiction at a total cost of 8 million dirhams. He expressed that “7 exploratory drills have been completed so far.”
Regarding deep water resource exploration, the Director of the Water Basin Agency for Sakia El Hamra and Wadi Al-Dhahab disclosed that the agency completed three deep exploratory drills at a cost of approximately 4.56 million dirhams. As for the completion of wells, the same official revealed the accomplishment of two contracts for well construction within the agency’s territory at a cost of 3.14 million dirhams, stating that “13 wells have been completed so far.”
Regarding pump tests, the agency director mentioned that pump tests were conducted at 7 water points at a cost of around 0.6 million dirhams.
